In my series Angels, Ghosts, and Fairies, I explore deep emotions tied to loss and the quest for solace after bidding farewell to my beloved dog, Chico in June of 2023. I ponder whether Chico transformed into an angel watching over me, or a ghost haunting the corners of my heart, or a fairy weaving magic to heal my grief? The narrative unfolds around a regal figure—the Queen. This central character embodies both strength and vulnerability, holding an empty leash that speaks to the absence of a cherished companion. As the series progresses, the Queen's Helpers come to life in each painting. Together, they engage in a poignant search for the missing presence, capturing the delicate dance between sadness and beauty. The Queen and her Helpers, with their regal demeanor and purposeful quest, symbolize archetypes of resilience and the human spirit's ability to navigate the intricate spaces between grief and transcendence.
