wabi-sabi
read artist statement
The series, created between 2015 and 2023, explores essential simplicity—refined yet unpretentious, with quiet authority and dynamic possibility. Working primarily with paper, I developed a process of gluing and pulling the material, leaving marks that became my form of brushstroke. The resulting nicks, scars, and imperfections add character and strength to each piece, creating a sense of beauty in subtle, inevitable imperfection. The Wabi Sabi series has been featured in numerous solo exhibitions, locally and nationally, including at the SFMOMA Artists Gallery and Aberson Exhibits, and is part of collections at Stanford University and Nordstrom.
