malta

read artist statement
The Malta series originated during my residency in Gozo, Malta, in October 2009, and was completed in 2010. At first glance, the images may seem light, childlike, and free of chaos. However, they convey deeper themes of impermanence and interconnectedness. The circle, a recurring symbol in my work, represents the "void"—a space not of emptiness, but of change, flux, and transformation. Just as a circle has no beginning or end, everything is interdependent, in constant motion, and constantly evolving through time. The Malta series consists of seven paintings, each 44x44 inches, created on watercolor paper, mounted on wood panels, and finished with resin and sanding. The works are titled Flock, Hum, Ebb, Lullaby, Spindle, Hush, and Flow.
